Oral cancer screenings are a very important part of the dental visit for the patient. 

The screenings are performed during every new patient examination, as well as during your 6 month check ups with Dr. Pomeranz or Dr. Gray during your cleaning.  It is recommended that you have an examination by a dentist every six months- not only to identify any new cavities or infections (both occur often without any pain), but also to check for the signs of oral cancer.

Certain lifestyle choices can have a great impact on the health of tissues and your overall health in the mouth. If you are a smoker or heavy drinker, make sure to get regular screenings when you visit the dentist.
